Richard Norris awarded OAM in 2019 Queen's Birthday Honour List

I am pleased to advise that in the Queen’s Birthday Honour List today, Richard Norris from Preston has been an ‘Order of Australia Medal’ for his services to cricket and the community.

Richard (Dick) Norris joined the Preston Cricket Club (Melbourne) in 1948/49, following in the footsteps of his parents who were established as outstanding volunteers. Initially acting as a junior scoreboard attendant, Dick commenced playing matches in 1950/51. His service to the club and the game of cricket has been profound.

Now in his early 80's Dick continues to contribute strongly to our community.

Preston Cricket Club:
- Played 41 seasons. Over 500 games (cumulative all elevens). Played in 6 premiership teams, And won 7 batting averages
- Made over 9,000 runs and 300 wickets
- Club Secretary 1972/73 to 1977/78
- President 1982/83 to 2001/02 and 2005/06 to 2006/07
- General Committee 1966/67 to current day
- Life Member 1971
- Under 11 mixed team coach 2010/11 to 2016/17

Victorian Sub District Cricket Association:
- Club Delegate 2000/01 to 2015/16
- VSDCA Executive Committee 2002/03 to 2015/16
- VSDCA Treasurer 2004/05 to 2014/15
- Various VSDCA sub committees including Local Government liaison & Rules Revision working groups
- Alternate delegate to Cricket Victoria 2011/12 to 2014/15

Rotary Club of Ivanhoe:

A tireless worker for charity through his long involvement with the Rotary Club of Ivanhoe, where he has held a number of Executive positions in that organisation.
